For the first time, people can offset the CO2 emissions in their own breath through a new company’s game-changing mission to empower people to act on climate change.
YepYou’s carbon offsetting service is designed as a simple, inexpensive and logical first step to protect and grow forests to reduce the impacts of greenhouse gas emissions and also empower people to see the benefits of acting on climate change.
YepYou has paired a simple online process with leading forest-growing organizations and a passionate commitment to nature, to enable customers to neutralize their personal CO2 impact, as well as emissions from their lifestyle activities.
YepYou Managing Director Scott Geer said the breath emissions of the world’s 7.9 billion people produce about 7% of all human-made emissions, or the equivalent of half of all road transport emissions.
“We only have two proven ways to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere: trees and the ocean. And the ocean is already acidifying from absorbing more CO2 from the atmosphere,” Geer said.
“Right now we’re destroying forests the size of New York’s Central Park every eight minutes, and each year we deforest the same area of Ireland and Belgium combined.
“Meanwhile, we’re only planting about 1% of the trees we need to offset global human-made emissions. However, recent satellite studies have identified that there is enough degraded and unused land available for us to plant 100% of the trees required.”
Scott Geer is Managing Director of YepYou, the world’s first and only provider of human breath offsets.
He said planting, restoring and preserving forests was about more than emissions.
“This is also about preserving ecosystems for biodiversity and restoring their numerous benefits to humanity like weather and erosion protection, shade and shelter, water filtration, and community jobs, food and recreation resources.”
Geer said YepYou thinks differently about trees and forests.
“Trees and forest conservation are the only carbon offset mechanism that benefits all living species, not just humans,” he said.
“Instead of capturing carbon dioxide and storing it as part of an industrial solution, trees recycle it, use the carbon to grow and breathe out oxygen for people, other animals and fungi to breathe in. This is a process that has been refined and proven over 1 billion years, and they do it for free.”
YepYou and its partners have current projects ranging from 57 to 7500 hectares in countries such as India, Brazil and African nations, some of which will compensate for up to 1 million tonnes of CO2.
YepYou’s revolutionary Offset Your Breath service offers all people in all countries a one-step process to offset their breath for as little as USD$17 and also includes options to offset family, friends, colleagues and pets’ breath. Lifestyle and organisational emissions can also be offset through YepYou’s service.
YepYou is also providing a business and government service through which organizations can offset employees as a first step towards reducing the impact of their CO2 emissions and achieving Net Zero goals.
